A man in France has been punished for impersonating the father of Kylian Mbappe.

A 48-year-old man has appeared in court for impersonating Wilfried Mbappe, the father of the PSG forward. He did this to obtain a residence permit for an Algerian couple.

The man did this in December last year. He was exposed by an official of the Yvelines prefecture, who did not recognize the voice of Wilfried Mbappe, with whom he had communicated before. The man was asked to send a written document. The scammer did this by trying to imitate the signature of the football player`s father.

The official was confused by numerous spelling errors in the text. He reported his suspicions to the police. It turned out that the scammer had already done similar things in two other prefectures of France.

The accused admitted guilt and stated that he considered his actions as a good deed, and that he helped the Algerians on a voluntary basis. However, the police believe that this is not the case - the man was found to have 4, 370 euros in cash in his house and 24, 230 euros in accounts from unknown sources.

The man was sentenced to ten months in prison and a fine of 2, 000 euros.
