The FIA President has changed his position regarding Andretti`s application to F1.
Mohammed bin Sulayem said that the best way for Andretti to get into Formula 1 is to buy one of the existing teams.


Previously, the FIA President actively criticized F1 for the fact that the series is in no hurry to accept Andretti as the 11th team.


I have no doubt that [F1 management company] FOM and [F1 owner] Liberty [Media] would like to see other teams when it comes to automakers.


I would advise [Andretti] to go and buy another team and not come in as the 11th team. I have a feeling that some commands need to be refreshed. What`s better? Have 11 teams for the sake of numbers or ten strong ones? I still think there should be more teams, but not just any suitable ones. It`s not about quantity, but about quality.


I won`t say the names, but there are teams that have problems. Problems with performances, even with management. It is important to have the right teams and not miss the chance when General Motors comes to Formula 1 as a mechanic.
